Bio of Arnold N. Simonsen Ripieno Growing up in New Jersey, I started playing cornet in the 4th grade and played cornet and trumpet through public schools and college. After graduating from Newark College of Engineering with an electrical engineering degree I went in the Air Force where they sent me to the University of Utah to study meteorology. Following 3 years in the AF as a weather officer I took a job with General Dynamics in San Diego. GD moved us to Boston in 1965, and in 1968 I went to work for Raytheon and retired with them in Tucson in 2006.After college and during my family raising and working years I did only occasional playing at church. In 1995 I go the urge to play more regularly and joined the Southeast Massachusetts Community Band. When we came to Tucson I soon was looking to join a band and found the OPBB just perfect. My wife, Joy, and I spend our summers on Cape Cod near our three children and eight grandchildren where I play with two bands doing evening concerts in the park during July and August. At Christmas several of the grandkids and I do a little family concert during our Christmas celebration. We have a flute, viola, saxophone, cornet and drummer. Great fun! Have to keep the next generations going. |
